Core Technology Overview

Medinol’s core technology is multidisciplinary as well as multidimensional. Medinol is the only company that applies its strut formation process to a flat panel. Only after the strut profile is created and inspected is the flat lattice folded and fused to create a perfect cylinder.

This unique two dimensional strut formation process allows us to achieve unparalleled precision and conduct quality control processes on both sides of the flat panel. Additionally, it allows us to utilize two complementary quality control processes: manual optical inspection as well as automated visual inspection (AVI) – a technology adopted from the semiconductor industry.

The two dimensional nature of our strut formation process also facilitates the use of two different cutout technologies – chemical etching and water jet laser cutting. The ability to choose between these alternative technologies allows us to match each stent material with the optimal technology – chemical etching for stainless steel, and water jet laser cutting for cobalt chromium and nitinol.

Furthermore, the superior level of accuracy facilitated by the two dimensional nature of our process allows us to design and implement strut architectures that incorporate thinner struts than any other company in our industry. These unique designs play a major role in the optimal balance between flexibility and support characterizing our stents.
