Core Technology Multi-Dimensional Technology

One of the major challenges facing stent manufacturers is the difficulty of applying the design to the stent itself. This is particularly challenging due to the delicacy of the stent and its three dimensional tube shape.

Medinol's unique multi-dimensional technology addresses this challenge in an ingenuously simple way – the design is applied onto a flat panel which is then folded and fused to create the stent's tube shape.

This multi-dimensional approach carries various substantial benefits:
  • our strut-formation phase enjoys the simplicity and accuracy of a two-dimensional processes
  • the two-dimensional process allows us to use different strut-formation technologies, i.e. photo-etching and water jet laser cutting, and match each technology with the optimal stent material
  • the strut formation phase is a batch process applied on a flat panel containing numerous stents, thus increasing final output while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • we are able to perform two separate quality control processes – one in the stent's two-dimensional phase, and one in its three-dimensional phase (after the tube is fused to create the tube shape)
  • our two-dimensional quality control phase is performed very early in the manufacturing process, allowing us to inspect both the inner and outer side of the stent, using both manual and automatic visual inspection.
