Much like the production process of integrated circuits, Medinol’s strut formation is a batch process. This means that each panel we process contains numerous lattices that will eventually become stents.
In addition to manual optical inspection, each panel is subject to an automated visual inspection (AVI) that covers each and every strut throughout the entire panel. Thus, our quality control process is not based on sampling individual struts or stents, but is rather a rigorous and comprehensive process covering 100% of each stent’s surface.
Naturally, the two dimensional structure of the panel allows us to apply quality control process to both sides. We are thus able to examine both the outer and inner surface of the stent.
After the flat lattice is folded and fused to create a perfect cylinder the stent undergoes a unique electropolishing process that combines chemical and electric surface polishing technologies.
At this phase the stent is subjected to a three dimensional quality control process, followed by crimping the stent on to the delivery system.
