At this point of the process the stent has already assumed its final 3-dimensional structure, yet its surface it still suboptimal. To achieve optimal surface properties a proprietary electropolishing process is applied to the stent.
The stents are placed on a designated device which is submerged in a series of chemical solutions and subjected to complementary electrical treatment. This process removes any residues the stent might have collected in the previous phases, and polishes the stent's surface.
By the end of this process the stent has acquired both the optimal structure and the optimal surface properties for its clinical purpose. It is at this point the each stent is subjected to the final quality control process.
