After the lattice has been fully inspected and verified it moves on to the next manufacturing phase, in which it is folded to assume a cylindrical shape. This is carried out by carefully engineered devices that ensure a uniform and precise fold.
Once the fold has been completed the stent is ready to be fused so as to create the final 3-dimensional structure. In this part of the process a high precision laser is used to ensure optimal accuracy. This part of the process is handled by highly skilled employees, many of which are engineers, and is aided by advanced optical technology.
The change in the structure of the metal tips, however minimal, is taken into account in the design of the lattice. Thus, it is the fusion phase that actually perfects the 3-dimensional structure of the stent.
