  • Randomized study of NIRxcell and Medtronic Driver/Integrity (1:1), evaluating if different stent geometry may influence coronary flow and perfusion in the setting of primary PCI for STEMI
  • 223 patients enrolled in two centers in Italy
  • Primary Endpoint: corrected TIMI frame count (cTFC) at the end of the procedure. Secondary endpoint included cTFC after stent deployment, TIMI flow at the end of the procedure and in hospital MACE (Death, re-infarction ST or TLR)
  • Result: After stent deployment, the cTFC was significantly lower in the NIRxcell group (16±5 frames) vs. the Driver/Integrity group (21±16 frames). At the end of the procedure the cTFC for NIRxcell remained significantly lower (15±5 frames) than for Driver/Integrity (18±11 frames). These differences were associated with significantly higher rate of TIMI 3 flow in the NIRxcell group (95%) than in the Driver/Integrity group (87%). In hospital events included 2 cases of death and one ST with Driver/Integrity vs. one case of death with NIRxcell
